A heterogeneous landscape of CAE calculation tools in the simulation departments and domains presented Grundfos with the challenge of realizing cross-divisional and cross-departmental collaboration, whereby in particular the transparency of data and processes should be ensured in the long term. A so-called vertical approach was to be pursued with the aim of interlinking the departments and domains as closely as possible on the basis of a homogeneous software landscape, whereby individual adaptations for special cases and at team level should be possible. A central requirement was the seamless traceability of simulation processes, which should be intuitive, at the touch of a button and error-free.
SimData Manager was introduced very successfully on a broad front, so that today everyone involved in the simulation process interacts and collaborates on the basis of a common SPDM platform. Since 2020, the use of SimData Manager has extended across all relevant departments and domains at Grundfos, such as Electronics Development, Mechanical Engineering and Advanced Materials Engineering. In the future, Grundfos wants to expand the use of artificial intelligence to increase quality, efficiency and innovation. This initially requires a solid database, for which SimData Manager lays the foundation.
